Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Senegal represented the major exporting country with an export of around X kg, which reached 68% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X kg), making up a 32% share of total exports.

In 2022, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), distantly followed by Ghana (X tons), Liberia (X tons), Togo (X tons) and Guinea (X tons) were the key importers of fresh or chilled hams, shoulders and cuts of pig meat, together creating 86% of total imports. The following importers - Senegal (X tons) and Cabo Verde (X tons) - each resulted at a 6.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +45.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Liberia ($X) and Ghana ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 62% of total imports.
Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +38.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -3.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($X per ton), while Ghana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
