The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were Niger (X tons), Mali (X tons) and Burkina Faso (X tons).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the leading producing countries, was attained by Niger (with a CAGR of +7.9%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports in ECOWAS
Frozen pork cut exports surged to X tons in 2016, with an increase of 13,448% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, frozen pork cut exports surged to $X in 2016. Overall, exports saw a significant expansion. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the one major exporters of frozen hams, shoulders and cuts of pig meat, namely Ghana, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of frozen hams, shoulders and cuts of pig meat. From 2012 to 2016, the share of Ghana increased by +98 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Export Prices by Country
In 2016, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, falling by -91.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a precipitous setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 637%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined significantly in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Ghana.

Imports in ECOWAS
In 2022, imports of frozen hams, shoulders and cuts of pig meat in ECOWAS declined to X tons, falling by -11.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, frozen pork cut imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 64%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
Cote d'Ivoire represented the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for 61% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Liberia (X tons) and Ghana (X tons), together committing a 33% share of total imports. Guinea (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
Cote d'Ivoire was also the fastest-growing in terms of the frozen hams, shoulders and cuts of pig meat imports, with a CAGR of +48.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Liberia (+12.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Guinea and Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Cote d'Ivoire (+55 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Guinea (-7.2 p.p.), Liberia (-16.5 p.p.) and Ghana (-19 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Liberia ($X) and Ghana ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 85% share of total imports.
Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +45.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -1.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Guinea ($X per ton), while Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guinea (+1.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
