Imports into Cabo Verde increased at an average annual rate of +19.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Togo (+53.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Togo emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +53.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Nigeria (-12.3%) and Ghana (-31.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Cabo Verde, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo increased by +66, +14, +7.1 and +3.5 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Cabo Verde ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hot-rolled bars of silico-manganese steel in ECOWAS, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Togo, with an 8.5% share.

In Cabo Verde, hot-rolled silico-manganese steel bar imports expanded at an average annual rate of +27.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ghana (-30.3% per year) and Togo (+75.1% per year).
