The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, exports of household and sanitary articles of paper contracted modestly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2016 indices. Cote d'Ivoire prevails in paper structure, finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Togo (X tons) and Ghana (X tons), together making up a X% share of total exports. Senegal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Cote d'Ivoire increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Togo (X%) and Ghana (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Togo emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Senegal (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Togo (X p.p.) and Ghana (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Senegal (X p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) remains the largest household and sanitary articles of paper supplier in ECOWAS, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Togo, with a X% share.

In Cote d'Ivoire, exports of household and sanitary articles of paper increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (X% per year) and Togo (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of X%. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, approx. X tons of household and sanitary articles of paper were imported in ECOWAS; jumping by X% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of household and sanitary articles of paper rose rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Ghana (X tons) was the major importer of household and sanitary articles of paper, creating X% of total imports. Togo (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Senegal (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Gambia (X tons), Cabo Verde (X tons) and Mali (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports.

Imports into Ghana decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mali (X%), Gambia (X%), Burkina Faso (X%) and Togo (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mali emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Cabo Verde (X%), Senegal (X%) and Cote d'Ivoire (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
