Imines imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, picking up by 36% on the previous year. In general, imports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 257%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 347% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Nigeria (X tons) was the major importer of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof, committing 78% of total imports. Ghana (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons). All these countries together held near 22% share of total imports.

Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the imines and their derivatives and salts thereof imports, with a CAGR of +34.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ghana (+17.9%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+11.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Nigeria increased by +46 percentage points.
