The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (-2.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of machines for deburring or polishing metal decreased by -71.9% to X units for the first time since 2014, thus ending a six-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 262% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, metal deburring machine imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 147%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then fell notably in the following year.

Imports by Country

Nigeria (X units) and Ghana (X units) were the main importers of machines for deburring or polishing metal in 2021, finishing at near 39% and 35% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X units), generating a 14% share of total imports. The following importers - Guinea (X units) and Liberia (X units) - each amounted to a 7.5% share of total imports.

In 2021, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, surging by 18% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 64%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
