Senegal prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 80% of total exports in 2021. Nigeria (X units) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Sierra Leone (10%).

Senegal was also the fastest-growing in terms of the machines for the manufacture of masks and reticles, semiconductor devices or electronic integrated circuits exports, with a CAGR of +17.0% from 2012 to 2021. Sierra Leone experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Nigeria (-7.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Nigeria, Niger and Burkina Faso increased by +68, +3.8 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for the manufacture of masks and reticles, semiconductor devices or electronic integrated circuits in ECOWAS, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 3.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Burkina Faso, with a 2.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Nigeria totaled +73.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ghana (-0.1% per year) and Burkina Faso (+38.5% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Ghana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
