Exports in ECOWAS
In 2022, exports of meat in ECOWAS contracted slightly to X tons, which is down by X% against the previous year. Overall, exports showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, meat exports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Benin (X tons) represented the largest exporter of meat, constituting X% of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Senegal (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total exports. Mali (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
Benin was also the fastest-growing in terms of the meat exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Nigeria (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Cote d'Ivoire (X%), Senegal (X%) and Mali (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Imports by Country
