In 2022, Ghana (X units), Mali (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Sierra Leone (X units) was the main exporter of men's or boys' clothing (knitted or crocheted) in ECOWAS, comprising 81% of total export. It was distantly followed by Togo (X units) and Senegal (X units), together mixing up an 11% share of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Guinea (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2021, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, men knitwear imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +112.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Ghana (X units) were the major importers of men's or boys' clothing (knitted or crocheted) in 2022, recording near 27% and 26% of total imports, respectively. Guinea (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Nigeria (13%), Senegal (8.6%) and Liberia (5.9%).
