The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 17%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2021 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in ECOWAS

In 2022, approx. X units of motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars were exported in ECOWAS; dropping by -6.7% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 5,556% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, snow motor vehicle exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a sharp reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 7,049%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Senegal (X units), distantly followed by Nigeria (X units) represented the key exporters of motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars, together generating 100% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Senegal (with a CAGR of +7.2%).

In value terms, Senegal ($X) and Nigeria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022.

Senegal, with a CAGR of +12.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 4.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 26%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per unit), while Nigeria stood at $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Senegal (+4.9%).

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2022, overseas purchases of motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars were finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 183%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, snow motor vehicle imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 217% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Nigeria prevails in imports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 68% of total imports in 2022. Gambia (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Sierra Leone (X units), Burkina Faso (X units) and Guinea (X units). All these countries together held approx. 26% share of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to snow motor vehicle imports into Nigeria stood at +27.6%. At the same time, Gambia (+42.6%), Burkina Faso (+42.2%), Guinea (+40.3%) and Sierra Leone (+33.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Gambia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +42.6% from 2012-2022. Cote d'Ivoire experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and Guinea increased by +46, +7, +5.9, +5.1 and +4.4 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported motor vehicles for travelling on snow or golf cars in ECOWAS, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sierra Leone ($X), with a 9.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Gambia, with a 9.2% share.

In Nigeria, snow motor vehicle imports expanded at an average annual rate of +27.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sierra Leone (+41.2% per year) and Gambia (+60.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, declining by -2.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 12%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Burkina Faso (+13.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
