In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in the ECOWAS non-hydraulic press market, when its value decreased by -5.2% to $X. Senegal was the key exporter of non-hydraulic presses for working metal in ECOWAS, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was near 64% of total exports in 2021. Nigeria (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Gambia (X units) and Ghana (X units). All these countries together took near 36% share of total exports.

Exports from Senegal decreased at an average annual rate of -14.5% from 2012 to 2021. Ghana and Gambia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Nigeria (-16.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Ghana and Gambia increased by +7.1 and +7.1 percentage points, respectively.

Ghana, with a CAGR of +62.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -41.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 5,903%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+34.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, the amount of non-hydraulic presses for working metal imported in ECOWAS shrank markedly to X units, waning by -16.3% compared with the year before. In general, imports, however, recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 167% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, non-hydraulic press imports shrank significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 658% against the previous year. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Togo (X units) prevails in imports structure, together comprising 74% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Burkina Faso (X units) and Nigeria (X units), together comprising a 12% share of total imports. The following importers - Liberia (X units), Senegal (X units) and Mali (X units) - together made up 8.1% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Togo (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-hydraulic press importing markets in ECOWAS were Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Burkina Faso ($X), together comprising 89% of total imports.
