The shipments of the three major exporters of non-ionic surface-active agents (excluding soap), namely Senegal, Mali and Ghana, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Togo (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by Gambia (8.3%) and Cote d'Ivoire (6%). Nigeria (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

In value terms, Ghana ($X), Senegal ($X) and Mali ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 67% share of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Nigeria and Gambia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
Among the main exporting countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +8.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -6.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Gambia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Non-ionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) imports soared to X tons in 2021, rising by 43% compared with 2020. Overall, imports recorded notable growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The purchases of the three major importers of non-ionic surface-active agents (excluding soap), namely Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria, represented more than two-thirds of total import.
