For the third consecutive year, ECOWAS recorded decline in overseas shipments of photo-copying apparatus, which decreased by -6.1% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 259%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, photo-copying apparatus exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 161%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Nigeria (X units) was the main exporter of photo-copying apparatus, constituting 56% of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Ghana (11%) and Senegal (11%). Mali (X units), Cabo Verde (X units) and Togo (X units) took a little share of total exports.
Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the photo-copying apparatus exports, with a CAGR of +6.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Ghana and Mali experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Togo (-2.2%), Senegal (-13.4%) and Cabo Verde (-14.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Nigeria (+45 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+9.5 p.p.), Ghana (+7 p.p.) and Mali (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Cabo Verde and Senegal saw its share reduced by -1.8% and -7.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) remains the largest photo-copying apparatus supplier in ECOWAS, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Senegal, with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria amounted to +7.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (+32.8% per year) and Senegal (-10.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, falling by -30.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 152%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then declined significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($X per unit), while Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+31.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ECOWAS
In 2022, purchases abroad of photo-copying apparatus increased by 13% to X units, rising for the fifth consecutive year after three years of decline. Overall, imports showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 151% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, photo-copying apparatus imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 120%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Nigeria represented the largest importer of photo-copying apparatus in ECOWAS, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was near 55% of total imports in 2022. Ghana (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Senegal (X units) and Cote d'Ivoire (X units). All these countries together held near 32% share of total imports. The following importers - Mali (X units), Togo (X units) and Guinea (X units) - together made up 9.5% of total imports.

The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported photo-copying apparatus in ECOWAS, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Nigeria amounted to +2.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ghana (+3.8% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (-4.4% per year).

The import price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 22%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
