In value terms, poultry incubator exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 175%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Cote d'Ivoire (X units), together accounting for 100% of total export.

Cote d'Ivoire experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of poultry incubators and brooders. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Cote d'Ivoire increased by +99 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) also remains the largest poultry incubator supplier in ECOWAS.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Cote d'Ivoire.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Cote d'Ivoire amounted to +8.3% per year.

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2022, approx. X units of poultry incubators and brooders were imported in ECOWAS; reducing by -50.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 238%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, poultry incubator imports declined notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a measured increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 107%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Nigeria dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was near 90% of total imports in 2022. Ghana (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Senegal (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to poultry incubator imports into Nigeria stood at +13.4%. At the same time, Ghana (+44.9%), Senegal (+21.1%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +44.9% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Ghana increased by +3.7 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported poultry incubators and brooders in ECOWAS, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria totaled +3.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+35.7% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (-4.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 45% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a deep slump. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (-6.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
