Raspberry And Blackberry Market Size in ECOWAS

The ECOWAS raspberry and blackberry market shrank to $X in 2022, reducing by -8.9% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 20%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Benin (X tons) remains the largest raspberry and blackberry producing country in ECOWAS, accounting for 78% of total volume. Moreover, raspberry and blackberry production in Benin exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Guinea-Bissau (X tons), sevenfold. Senegal (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a 4.4% share.

In Benin, raspberry and blackberry production expanded at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Guinea-Bissau (+1.8% per year) and Senegal (+2.0% per year).

Raspberry And Blackberry Exports

Exports in ECOWAS

In 2022, the amount of raspberries and blackberries exported in ECOWAS surged to X tons, rising by 155% against 2021. In general, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 1,163% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, raspberry and blackberry exports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 591%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Benin prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Mali (X kg), creating a 5.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to raspberry and blackberry exports from Benin stood at +6.1%. At the same time, Mali (+23.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mali emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +23.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Benin and Mali increased by +92 and +4.3 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mali ($X) and Benin ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022.

Among the main exporting countries, Mali, with a CAGR of +8.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -88.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a dramatic decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 163% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per ton), while Benin amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mali (-11.9%).

Raspberry And Blackberry Imports

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2022, after eight years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of raspberries and blackberries, when their volume decreased by -0.7% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, raspberry and blackberry imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 44%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) was the key importer of raspberries and blackberries in ECOWAS, mixing up 98% of total import.

Cote d'Ivoire was also the fastest-growing in terms of the raspberries and blackberries imports, with a CAGR of +19.2% from 2012 to 2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Cote d'Ivoire increased by +21 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported raspberries and blackberries in ECOWAS.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Cote d'Ivoire totaled +13.6%.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -7.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt setback.
