In 2021, purchases abroad of seeders, planters, transplanters decreased by -62% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 223%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, seeder and planter imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 253% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Nigeria dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 94% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Senegal (X units), achieving a 6.2% share of total imports.

Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the seeders, planters, transplanters imports, with a CAGR of +32.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Senegal (+11.6%) displayed positive paces of growth.
