Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Burkina Faso (X units) was the key exporter of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators, constituting 37% of total exports. Senegal (X units) held a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Niger (13%), Cote d'Ivoire (8.3%), Gambia (7.9%) and Benin (5.2%). Liberia (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to self-propelled bulldozer exports from Burkina Faso stood at +15.3%. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+29.9%), Gambia (+16.7%), Liberia (+10.6%) and Benin (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +29.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Niger (-7.1%) and Senegal (-10.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Burkina Faso (+28 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+7.6 p.p.), Gambia (+6.2 p.p.), Liberia (+4.4 p.p.) and Benin (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Niger (-9.8 p.p.) and Senegal (-23.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Burkina Faso ($X) emerged as the largest self-propelled bulldozer supplier in ECOWAS, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Senegal ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Niger, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Burkina Faso totaled +9.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Senegal (-11.7% per year) and Niger (-6.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 22% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Liberia ($X per unit), while Senegal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Liberia (+20.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, imports of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators in ECOWAS declined remarkably to X units, shrinking by -26.1% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 28%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 35%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators, namely Burkina Faso, Ghana and Nigeria, represented more than third of total import. Mali (X units) held a 7.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Senegal (6.9%), Niger (6.8%), Togo (5.9%), Benin (5.9%), Cote d'Ivoire (5.5%) and Guinea (5.2%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Niger (with a CAGR of +25.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Burkina Faso ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Ghana ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 49% of total imports. Guinea, Niger, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Senegal and Mali lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 46%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Niger, with a CAGR of +27.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 4.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 5.8% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Guinea ($X per unit), while Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
