Video Monitor Market Size in ECOWAS

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the ECOWAS video monitor market, when its value decreased by -9.5% to $X. The total consumption indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +75.2% against 2014 indices. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

Video Monitor Production in ECOWAS

In value terms, video monitor production contracted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +89.5% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 37%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports in ECOWAS

In 2021, shipments abroad of video monitors increased by 58% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports recorded a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 101%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, video monitor exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +63.2% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Senegal (X units) was the major exporter of video monitors, constituting 40% of total exports. Nigeria (X units) took a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (13%), Liberia (8%) and Ghana (6.8%). Burkina Faso (X units) and Niger (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to video monitor exports from Senegal stood at +22.7%. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+37.5%), Liberia (+32.7%), Burkina Faso (+31.0%), Niger (+13.2%) and Ghana (+12.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +37.5% from 2012-2021. Nigeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Senegal (+26 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+12 p.p.), Liberia (+6.6 p.p.), Burkina Faso (+3.3 p.p.) and Ghana (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Nigeria (-22.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Liberia ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 57% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Liberia, with a CAGR of +47.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, waning by -10.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 44% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Liberia ($X per unit), while Senegal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Liberia (+11.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Video Monitor Imports

Imports in ECOWAS

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of video monitors increased by 47% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep slump. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, video monitor imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Cote d'Ivoire (X units), distantly followed by Senegal (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Ghana (X units) were the main importers of video monitors, together achieving 87% of total imports. The following importers - Mali (X units), Burkina Faso (X units) and Togo (X units) - together made up 7.3% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Mali (with a CAGR of +35.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest video monitor importing markets in ECOWAS were Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Ghana ($X) and Nigeria ($X), with a combined 69% share of total imports. Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and Togo lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

Among the main importing countries, Mali, with a CAGR of +15.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, video monitor import price increased by +99.4% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 40%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per unit), while Senegal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Togo (+26.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
