Ceramic Tile Market Size in Ecuador
In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in the Ecuadorian ceramic tile market, when its value decreased by -8.2% to $X. Overall, the total consumption indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +90.8% against 2017 indices. In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of ceramic tiles, when their volume decreased by -23.3% to X square meters. In general, exports, however, saw a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 139%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X square meters in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, ceramic tile exports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 161% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
Exports by Country
The United States (X square meters), Guatemala (X square meters) and Colombia (X square meters) were the main destinations of ceramic tile exports from Ecuador, together accounting for 70% of total exports. These countries were followed by Peru, El Salvador, Panama and Chile, which together accounted for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for El Salvador (with a CAGR of +64.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Guatemala ($X) and Colombia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for ceramic tile exported from Ecuador worldwide, together accounting for 71% of total exports. These countries were followed by El Salvador, Peru, Chile and Panama, which together accounted for a further 23%.
El Salvador, with a CAGR of +56.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average ceramic tile export price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 9.2%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Ecuador
In 2022, purchases abroad of ceramic tiles decreased by -13.4% to X square meters for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 50%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X square meters in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, ceramic tile imports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Peru (X square meters), Colombia (X square meters) and Spain (X square meters) were the main suppliers of ceramic tile imports to Ecuador, with a combined 78% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Brazil, India and Italy, which together accounted for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +240.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Peru ($X), Spain ($X) and Colombia ($X) constituted the largest ceramic tile suppliers to Ecuador, together accounting for 66% of total imports. China, Italy, Brazil and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
Among the main suppliers, India, with a CAGR of +217.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average ceramic tile import price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, falling by -7.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per square meter), while the price for Peru ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
