Colombia (X tons) was the main destination for disperse dye exports from Ecuador, with a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, disperse dye exports to Colombia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X kg), threefold. Mexico (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Colombia amounted to +105.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+28.3% per year) and Mexico (+87.5% per year).
In value terms, Colombia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for disperse dyes and preparations based thereon exports from Ecuador, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 4.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Colombia totaled +128.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+28.1% per year) and Mexico (+73.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average disperse dye export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +6.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+47.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ecuador
For the fourth consecutive year, Ecuador recorded decline in supplies from abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon, which decreased by -21.9% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 49%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, disperse dye imports declined sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 72%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Israel (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of disperse dye to Ecuador, with a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, disperse dye imports from Israel exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Guatemala (X tons), twofold. Vietnam (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Israel stood at +18.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Guatemala (-10.9% per year) and Vietnam (+21.7% per year).
In value terms, Guatemala ($X), Israel ($X) and China ($X) were the largest disperse dye suppliers to Ecuador, together comprising 55% of total imports. These countries were followed by Nicaragua, Vietnam, India, Spain, the United States and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 26%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +42.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average disperse dye import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 5.9% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, disperse dye import price decreased by -4.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 26%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+16.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
