The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 186%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, fructose imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 170% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Colombia (X tons), the United States (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of fructose imports to Ecuador, with a combined 75% share of total imports. Chile, Indonesia, Peru, Uruguay and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
