Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a deep contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons), India (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-alloy aluminium bar imports to Ecuador, with a combined 86% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Colombia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Colombia (with a CAGR of +29.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
