In value terms, rubber tube and pipe exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 671%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Peru (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the main destinations of rubber tube and pipe exports from Ecuador, together accounting for 84% of total exports.

In general, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Malaysia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.6% share.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber to Ecuador, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with an 8.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +6.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-4.7% per year) and Japan (+33.5% per year).
