As a result, the exports attained the peak of X litres. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 175%. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Panama (X litres) was the main destination for non-mineral or non-aerated water exports from Ecuador, accounting for a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water exports to Panama exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X litres), fourfold. Italy (X litres) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Panama amounted to +437.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+8.6% per year) and Italy (+81.7% per year).
In value terms, Panama ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest markets for non-mineral or non-aerated water exported from Ecuador worldwide, together comprising 34% of total exports. These countries were followed by Colombia and Italy, which together accounted for a further 1.4%.
Italy, with a CAGR of +81.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+25.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, Mexico (X litres) constituted the largest non-mineral or non-aerated water supplier to Ecuador, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports from Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X litres), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Spain (X litres), with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Mexico amounted to +54.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+26.8% per year) and Spain (0.0% per year).
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-mineral or non-aerated waters to Ecuador, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Mexico amounted to +81.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+46.1% per year) and the UK (0.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-mineral or non-aerated water import price amounted to $X per litre, declining by -7.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 74%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per litre in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per litre), while the price for Spain ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
