The average yield of apricots in Egypt declined to X tons per ha in 2021, reducing by -7.3% on 2020 figures. In general, the yield recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, the yield reached the peak level of X tons per ha, and then reduced in the following year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, apricot exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw notable growth. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Palestine (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main destinations of apricot exports from Egypt, with a combined 91% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Bahrain, which accounted for a further 9%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bahrain (with a CAGR of +30.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Palestine ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Russia ($X) constituted the largest markets for apricot exported from Egypt worldwide, with a combined 91% share of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Palestine, with a CAGR of +79.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average apricot export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -10.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 185% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Bahrain ($X per ton) and Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Palestine ($X per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Palestine (+54.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Egypt
Apricot imports into Egypt contracted sharply to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -32.5% on 2021 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 1,701% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, apricot imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 1,118% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest apricot supplier to Egypt, with a 29% share of total imports. Moreover, apricot imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Greece (X tons), sixfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Italy totaled +29.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+61.2% per year) and Jordan (-8.5% per year).
In value terms, Italy ($X) constituted the largest supplier of apricots to Egypt, comprising 29% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Greece ($X), with a 9.7% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Italy amounted to +25.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+53.3% per year) and Jordan (-10.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average apricot import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded notable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 55%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
