As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, bridge exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 93%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Benin (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main destinations of bridge exports from Egypt, together comprising 44% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Benin (with a CAGR of +67.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Benin ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Sudan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for bridge exported from Egypt worldwide, together accounting for 42% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Benin (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Egypt
In 2021, approx. X tons of bridges, bridge sections, towers and lattice masts (of iron or steel) were imported into Egypt; which is down by -81.5% compared with 2020. In general, imports faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 334% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, bridge imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 282% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Saudi Arabia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of bridge imports to Egypt, together accounting for 52% of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Turkey, France, the Netherlands and the United States, which together accounted for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +62.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest bridge suppliers to Egypt were Germany ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 50% share of total imports. France, Turkey, China, the Netherlands and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +57.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average bridge import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 162%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
