In 2022, the Egyptian chick peas market increased by 19% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, chick peas exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 137%. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Libya (X tons), Tunisia (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) were the main destinations of chick peas exports from Egypt, with a combined 78% share of total exports.
