In value terms, hot-rolled steel products exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main destinations of hot-rolled steel products exports from Egypt, with a combined 70% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Canada (with a CAGR of +197.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for hot-rolled steel products exported from Egypt were Spain ($X), Italy ($X) and Canada ($X), together accounting for 71% of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 134%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hot-rolled steel products imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of hot-rolled steel products imports to Egypt, together comprising 53% of total imports. Belgium, France, China, Italy, India, Japan, Spain and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 47%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +73.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Turkey ($X) and China ($X) were the largest hot-rolled steel products suppliers to Egypt, with a combined 35% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Belgium, Ukraine, India, France, Japan, Spain and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 36%.

In terms of the main suppliers, India, with a CAGR of +64.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average hot-rolled steel products import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 66% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 270% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
