The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 314%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Exports by Country
Sudan (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Libya (X tons) were the main destinations of acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives exports from Egypt, with a combined 69% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +84.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sudan ($X) remains the key foreign market for fluorinated, brominated or iodinated derivatives of acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Egypt, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Libya ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Yemen, with an 8.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Sudan totaled +71.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Libya (+84.4% per year) and Yemen (+98.0% per year).

The average acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 71% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Sudan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Oman (+29.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Egypt
In 2021, supplies from abroad of fluorinated, brominated or iodinated derivatives of acyclic hydrocarbons decreased by -13.9% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports faced a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives supplier to Egypt, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -14.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+2.4% per year) and India (-13.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fluorinated, brominated or iodinated derivatives of acyclic hydrocarbons to Egypt, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+0.5% per year) and India (+1.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average acyclic hydrocarbons derivatives import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
