The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) were the main destinations of preserved frozen potato exports from Egypt, with a combined 67% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan and Oman, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +64.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of frozen potatoes prepared or preserved increased by 9.5% to X tons, rising for the fourth year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports saw a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 53%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, preserved frozen potato imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest preserved frozen potato supplier to Egypt, accounting for a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, preserved frozen potato imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), threefold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Netherlands totaled -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+29.6% per year) and the United States (+74.6% per year).
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of frozen potatoes prepared or preserved to Egypt, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the Netherlands totaled -1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+29.2% per year) and the United States (+74.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average preserved frozen potato import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 2.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
