The United Arab Emirates (X units) was the main destination for headphone exports from Egypt, with a 72% share of total exports. Moreover, headphone exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X units), fourfold. Austria (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United Arab Emirates stood at +35.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+1,386.6% per year) and Austria (+60.4% per year).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the key foreign market for headphones exports from Egypt, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United Arab Emirates stood at +68.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+3,829.4% per year) and Austria (+133.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average headphone export price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a modest increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 115% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+164.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Egypt
For the third year in a row, Egypt recorded decline in purchases abroad of headphones, which decreased by -52% to X units in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 101% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, headphone imports declined notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 118% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest headphone supplier to Egypt, with a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, headphone imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), twofold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to -19.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+10.9% per year) and Vietnam (-1.3% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of headphones to Egypt, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 29% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+18.7% per year) and Vietnam (-1.8% per year).

In 2022, the average headphone import price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a significant expansion.
