Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, medical instruments exports rose modestly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for medical instruments exports from Egypt, with a 30% share of total exports. Moreover, medical instruments exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sudan (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia (X tons), with a 9.2% share.

Indonesia, Sudan, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Serbia, Pakistan, Libya and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Bangladesh, with a CAGR of +84.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average medical instruments export price amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the export price posted a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 89% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 109%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
