The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main destinations of fruit or nut preserves exports from Egypt, together comprising 51% of total exports. Kenya, Sudan, Japan, Mauritania, Morocco, Kuwait, Libya, Palestine, South Africa and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Mauritania (with a CAGR of +37.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Kenya ($X) were the largest markets for fruit or nut preserves exported from Egypt worldwide, with a combined 44% share of total exports. In 2021, the average fruit or nut preserves export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, fruit or nut preserves export price increased by +97.7% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Fruit or nut preserves imports into Egypt was estimated at X tons in 2021, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, imports enjoyed a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fruit or nut preserves imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a moderate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 79%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of fruit or nut preserves to Egypt, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lebanon ($X), with an 8.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 7.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Turkey stood at +7.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lebanon (+18.3% per year) and Italy (+13.6% per year).

Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, fruit or nut preserves import price increased by +70.8% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were India ($X per ton) and Lebanon ($X per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
