Ukraine (X tons), Qatar (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) were the main destinations of jute and jute-like fibers exports from Egypt, with a combined 73% share of total exports. Ethiopia, Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Kuwait (with a CAGR of +92.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Ukraine totaled +27.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+56.8% per year) and Ethiopia (+27.1% per year).

The average jute and jute-like fibers export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -5.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 68% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Egypt
In 2022, the amount of jute and jute-like fibers imported into Egypt rose modestly to X tons, picking up by 2.2% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 203%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, jute and jute-like fibers imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 210% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Tanzania (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of jute and jute-like fibers to Egypt, accounting for a 86% share of total imports. Moreover, jute and jute-like fibers imports from Tanzania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Kenya (X tons), ninefold. Brazil (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Tanzania totaled +16.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kenya (+6.8% per year) and Brazil (-0.6% per year).
In value terms, Tanzania ($X) constituted the largest supplier of jute and jute-like fibers to Egypt, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Tanzania amounted to +15.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kenya (+12.5% per year) and Brazil (+2.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average jute and jute-like fibers import price amounted to $X per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per ton), while the price for Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
