Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) constituted the largest lifting equipment supplier to Egypt, accounting for a 37% share of total imports. Moreover, lifting equipment imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Saudi Arabia (X units), threefold. The United States (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United Arab Emirates stood at +25.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (-3.5% per year) and the United States (0.0% per year).

In value terms, Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest lifting equipment suppliers to Egypt, together accounting for 18% of total imports. These countries were followed by Oman, the United States, Belgium, Poland, Italy, Finland, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 19%.

Belgium, with a CAGR of +126.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average lifting equipment import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -8.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 298% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
