Iraq (X units), Pakistan (X units) and Brazil (X units) were the main destinations of needles, catheters, cannulae exports from Egypt, together accounting for 59% of total exports. Sudan, Italy, the UK, Paraguay, Jordan, Niger, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.

In value terms, the largest markets for needles, catheters, cannulae exported from Egypt were Pakistan ($X), Italy ($X) and the UK ($X), together comprising 32% of total exports. These countries were followed by Tunisia, Iraq, Sudan, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Paraguay, Germany, Niger and Jordan, which together accounted for a further 26%.
Niger, with a CAGR of +209.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of needles, catheters, cannulae decreased by -36.6% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, needles, catheters, cannulae imports contracted notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
