Newsprint Market Size in Egypt

In 2022, the Egyptian newsprint market decreased by -18.7% to $X, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption showed a abrupt setback. Libya (X tons), Yemen (X tons) and Kenya (X tons) were the main destinations of newsprint exports from Egypt, together comprising 76% of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, newsprint imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Norway (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main suppliers of newsprint imports to Egypt, together comprising 69% of total imports. France, Finland, Slovenia and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
