In 2021, the Egyptian non-domestic dryer market decreased by -0.8% to $X, falling for the fourth consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, consumption showed a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 51%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports declined modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Italy (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of non-domestic dryer imports to Egypt, with a combined 1.9% share of total imports. Belgium, Turkey, India, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 0.8%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +41.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 17%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
