The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electrical lamp exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports faced a dramatic descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 22,740%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Saudi Arabia (X units) was the main destination for non-electrical lamp exports from Egypt, accounting for a 47% share of total exports. Moreover, non-electrical lamp exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Jordan (X units), with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Saudi Arabia amounted to -51.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-4.4% per year) and Jordan (-41.8% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for non-electrical lamp exported from Egypt were Denmark ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Switzerland ($X), together comprising 60% of total exports.

Denmark, with a CAGR of +128.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, imports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 1,252%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-electrical lamp imports shrank markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 700% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) constituted the largest supplier of non-electrical lamp to Egypt, accounting for a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, non-electrical lamp imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), fourfold. Vietnam (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United Arab Emirates totaled -7.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-16.5% per year) and Vietnam (+2.5% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), Vietnam ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest non-electrical lamp suppliers to Egypt, with a combined 75% share of total imports. Turkey, Brazil, Austria and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.

Brazil, with a CAGR of +31.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average non-electrical lamp import price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed a moderate expansion.
