Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of other cyclic hydrocarbons, when their volume increased by 291% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The third position in this ranking was held by India (X tons), with a 5.1% share.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of other cyclic hydrocarbons to Egypt, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +29.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+4.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+17.8% per year).

In 2021, the average cyclic hydrocarbons import price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -5.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 20% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
