Oxides Of Boron Market Size in Egypt
In 2022, the Egyptian oxides of boron market increased by 37% to $X, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. Oxides of boron consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids, when their volume decreased by -40.2% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 898% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, oxides of boron exports fell rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 724%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Djibouti (X tons) was the main destination for oxides of boron exports from Egypt, with a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, oxides of boron exports to Djibouti exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kuwait (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Libya (X tons), with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Djibouti stood at +339.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+55.6% per year) and Libya (+11.7% per year).
In value terms, Djibouti ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids exports from Egypt, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kuwait ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Libya, with a 4.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Djibouti amounted to +269.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+14.1% per year) and Libya (+12.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average oxides of boron export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a mild expansion. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Djibouti ($X per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) and Libya ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Oxides Of Boron Imports
Imports into Egypt
For the third consecutive year, Egypt recorded growth in supplies from abroad of oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids, which increased by 3.6% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 84% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, oxides of boron imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 76%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of oxides of boron to Egypt, with a 86% share of total imports. Moreover, oxides of boron imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Spain (X tons), with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey amounted to -1.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+15.8% per year) and Spain (+54.5% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids to Egypt, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Turkey was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+25.3% per year) and Spain (+55.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average oxides of boron import price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, oxides of boron import price increased by +47.6% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
