In value terms, Lebanon ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for peanut butter and prepared or preserved groundnuts exports from Egypt, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Libya ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Lebanon was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Libya (-11.5% per year) and Jordan (-2.7% per year).

In 2022, the amount of peanut butter and prepared or preserved groundnuts imported into Egypt fell rapidly to X tons, dropping by -38.9% against 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, showed a moderate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 111%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, peanut butter imports declined significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 106%. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of peanut butter to Egypt, with a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, peanut butter imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. Brazil (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.7% share.
