The United States (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) were the main destinations of polyamide exports from Egypt, with a combined 62% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Turkey and Malta, which together accounted for a further 14%.

Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 76% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, polyamide imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -32.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of polyamide imports to Egypt, with a combined 60% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, India, Italy, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Greece, which together accounted for a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +56.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest polyamide suppliers to Egypt were China ($X), Turkey ($X) and Belgium ($X), together accounting for 58% of total imports. In general, import price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, polyamide import price increased by +78.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 46%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
