The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 58% against the previous year. In value terms, sauce and seasoning exports stood at $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +47.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 123%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Morocco (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Sudan (X tons) were the main destinations of sauce and seasoning exports from Egypt, together comprising 42% of total exports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia, Rwanda, Jordan, Palestine, the United States, Kenya, Kuwait, Burundi, Turkey and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 40%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Burundi (with a CAGR of +78.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for sauce and seasoning exported from Egypt were Morocco ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), together accounting for 44% of total exports. These countries were followed by Sudan, Rwanda, Jordan, Palestine, the United States, Kenya, Kuwait, Burundi, Turkey and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 38%.
Among the main countries of destination, Burundi, with a CAGR of +77.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average sauce and seasoning export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) and Turkey ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Egypt
Sauce and seasoning imports into Egypt totaled X tons in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 50%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sauce and seasoning imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 31%. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United States (X tons), India (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main suppliers of sauce and seasoning imports to Egypt, with a combined 42% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, China, the Netherlands, Thailand, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Greece and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 46%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +122.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest sauce and seasoning suppliers to Egypt were India ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports. The average sauce and seasoning import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 7.1% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, sauce and seasoning import price increased by +88.7% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
