Senegal, Palestine, Iraq, Jordan, Australia, Sudan, Libya, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 50%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Australia (with a CAGR of +88.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), Yemen ($X) and Palestine ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer exported from Egypt worldwide, with a combined 42% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Iraq, Jordan, Australia, Sudan, Senegal, Libya, Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon, which together accounted for a further 39%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Australia, with a CAGR of +109.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 8.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Libya ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Yemen (+16.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports into Egypt surged to X tons, with an increase of 26% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 63% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 52%. In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer to Egypt, accounting for a 42% share of total imports. Moreover, sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United Arab Emirates amounted to +9.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+11.8% per year) and Turkey (-18.9% per year).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers to Egypt, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the United Arab Emirates stood at +8.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+11.6% per year) and Turkey (-13.3% per year).

In 2021, the average import price for sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers amounted to $X per ton, surging by 9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 33%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
