The United States (X units) was the main destination for non-propelled vehicle exports from Egypt, with a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, non-propelled vehicle exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Saudi Arabia (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Canada (X units), with a 2.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States amounted to +112.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (-1.5% per year) and Canada (+240.9% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-propelled vehicle exports from Egypt, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 2.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States totaled +92.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (-4.3% per year) and Canada (+235.4% per year).

In 2021, the average non-propelled vehicle export price amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -32.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 113% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped notably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+36.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Egypt
In 2021, the amount of vehicles not mechanically propelled imported into Egypt reached X units, with an increase of 2.6% on the year before. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 87%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-propelled vehicle imports fell modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 52%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Turkey (X units) and Spain (X units) were the main suppliers of non-propelled vehicle imports to Egypt, with a combined 35% share of total imports. Italy, Germany, Belgium, Tunisia, Russia, the UK, the Philippines, South Korea and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Tunisia (with a CAGR of +133.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-propelled vehicle suppliers to Egypt were China ($X), Turkey ($X) and Spain ($X), together comprising 34% of total imports. Italy, Germany, Belgium, Russia, the UK, the Philippines, Tunisia, the United States and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.
Tunisia, with a CAGR of +72.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-propelled vehicle import price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -6.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for Tunisia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
