Wallpaper Market Size in Egypt

The Egyptian wallpaper market dropped to $X in 2021, reducing by -7.4% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption saw a abrupt contraction. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Wallpaper exports from Egypt contracted markedly to X tons in 2021, declining by -57.5% against 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 292%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wallpaper exports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a strong expansion. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wallpaper imports fell modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a abrupt setback. China (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of wallpaper imports to Egypt, with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Turkey, France, Thailand, Hong Kong SAR and the United States, which together accounted for a further 23%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +14.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of wallpaper and wall coverings to Egypt, comprising 32% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 9.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 8.6% share.
