Saudi Arabia (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) were the main destinations of man-made filament fabric exports from Egypt.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +83.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the key foreign market for woven fabrics of man-made filaments and staple fibers exports from Egypt, comprising 43% of total exports. In general, imports showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 320% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, man-made filament fabric imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 4.4% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +13.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+6.1% per year) and South Korea (-16.3% per year).
