Cauliflower And Broccoli Market Size in Estonia

The Estonian cauliflower and broccoli market fell modestly to $X in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 199%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, cauliflower and broccoli exports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 193%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Finland (X tons) was the main destination for cauliflower and broccoli exports from Estonia, accounting for a 86% share of total exports. Moreover, cauliflower and broccoli exports to Finland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Latvia (X tons), sevenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Finland stood at +15.3%.

In value terms, Finland ($X) remains the key foreign market for cauliflower and broccoli exports from Estonia, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Latvia ($X), with a 10% share of total exports.

Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+20.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Estonia

Cauliflower and broccoli imports into Estonia contracted modestly to X tons in 2022, which is down by -2.5% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cauliflower and broccoli imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -16.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of cauliflower and broccoli imports to Estonia, together comprising 73% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +21.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Poland ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the largest cauliflower and broccoli suppliers to Estonia, with a combined 72% share of total imports.

Based on 2022 figures, cauliflower and broccoli import price increased by +84.5% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 36% against the previous year.
