In 2022, the Estonian starter battery market decreased by -17.7% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In value terms, starter battery exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 340% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

For the third consecutive year, Estonia recorded growth in overseas purchases of lead-acid accumulators for starting piston engines, which increased by 8.6% to X units in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, starter battery imports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Slovenia (X units), Poland (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of starter battery imports to Estonia, together comprising 43% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovenia (with a CAGR of +739.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Slovenia ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest starter battery suppliers to Estonia, together comprising 39% of total imports.
